The hypervisor is a program like VMware or Hyper-V. You're right, it works similarly across different operating systems, including Windows and macOS.

Whatever you're using to run Windows, I'm guessing you're referring to Parallels. This setup usually offers a virtual NIC for Windows. If you're using BootCamp, you'll have to install the Apple Boot Camp drivers for Windows.
