I rely on this download to obtain Windows 10 because any attempts I make keep resulting in errors and prevent the installation. My mom's computer is already updating to Windows 10, but mine hasn't started yet. If I use this link, will it do an upgrade or a clean install? I really don’t want to lose my files and stuff like that.

Updating Windows is mainly about upgrading the software. You might also be able to use those files to generate an ISO or perform a fresh installation. Using the provided link directly would likely be simpler.
