it doesn't completely halt driver downloads and installations when you switch to a metered connection. the main method mentioned is using DDU, which modifies the registry to block Windows updates for drivers—possibly affecting video drivers specifically. for confirmation, a quick fact check would clarify how metered connections interact with driver installation processes.

With Cortana enabled, you can enter advanced system settings by typing it and opening the interface. The system properties will appear. Select the hardware tab, then device installation settings and choose no. This should halt driver updates, though it may not always function as expected. If you don’t have Cortana, locate the option in the control panel—system and security—then system—advanced system settings.

This attempt wasn't successful before; I'm repeating it now and it appears to function. I'll verify the Conexant driver installation for today and tomorrow to confirm.

You may use a Microsoft tool to pause driver updates until a new version is available. Visit the support page for instructions: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help...%3Dtwitter. For download, use the provided link: http://download.microsoft.com/download/f...de.diagcab. Also, access the System settings via Start > Type: System > Select: System, then go to the Hardware tab and click "Device Installation Settings," choosing "No" and saving changes.

I'll attempt the first approach this evening. The second one has already been tried and failed here.

The application didn't detect the conexant driver, then a couple of minutes after i uninstall the driver it installed by itself again, this time didn't even wait for the restart...
