I just assembled my initial PC and encountered an odd problem. It won’t start properly, showing a white light that points to a GPU issue. After rebooting, the system jumps into BIOS because of the failed post. I navigate to the boot menu and switch it to my 1TB NVMe SSD, and it works perfectly. I can play games without any trouble all day. It seems like the PC is attempting to boot from a non-existent drive. However, the options in the dropdown only show my NVMe drive. What else might it be trying to load? I’m not sure about the exact cause, but I’ve been trying fixes myself without success. It’s not the most serious problem, and I can force it to start, but doing so every time might harm the system over time. Thanks! I really had no idea what I was doing during the installation. It’s possible I accidentally selected the wrong options or made a duplicate partition. Should I attempt to reinstall Windows? If yes, would I need to reinstall all other software such as drivers and games? Just for fun—what do you think?
wait hold on, usually you can delete unneeded partitions in disk management, but you do run the risk of deleting one of the partitions you need (i think im not an expert in storage) if you reinstall windows, you'll need to reinstall your drivers sadly , but most game hosting apps ( like steam, ubisoft connect and (i think) ea) have a function where you can locate game files (this is assuming the games are on a separate drive and won't get deleted when you reinstall windows, because part of the windows installation is formatting the drive you're installing on
I ended up reinstalling Windows and resetting the BIOS to its original settings. After that, I turned on the RAM again in the BIOS. The system started working properly now. It seems the issue was messing up the window installation, so the boot drive didn’t know what to use. Fixing it initially helped after forcing a boot from my SSD. Thanks for your assistance!
