Don't lose hope on Destiny just yet.
This piece offers a fresh take on Destiny's early reception. Many players were discouraged by the initial reviews, but the author presents a balanced view. I personally had mixed feelings before reading it, but it seems to confirm my instincts. It highlights how MMO games often face challenges at launch. Before diving in, I hadn’t noticed the article, but now I’m considering purchasing Destiny for PC. What are your thoughts?
It seems like 2014 is the current year, and there shouldn’t be an excuse for a game to perform poorly on its release. Developers must invest more time in thorough testing to resolve all potential issues beforehand. I understand there are bugs that get fixed after launch, but my concern remains valid. I no longer assume games or developers are perfect; we should expect simple fixes or additional checks before going live. Yes, unforeseen circumstances can occur, yet many features and systems should have been addressed prior to release.
I dislike how it's labeled an MMO when it isn't. The most players I've encountered in a specific area are around four others, even though a zone can only accommodate six. When you move to another smaller area within the same zone, they disappear into their own version. Generally, Destiny doesn't have many features it shouldn't lack and concentrates all its attention on making it enjoyable and rewarding once you hit level 20—usually reached in about 12 to 15 hours, and beyond. It's a first-person shooter with unpredictable online interactions and emphasizes cooperative gameplay. Up to now I've only noticed a few rare issues, mostly just occasional disconnections.
I understand the concerns beyond just bugs; it's about the overall experience. Bungie claimed the game improves after about 20 hours, which feels disappointing. I'm frustrated when games with great potential get ruined by forcing all fun elements into the endgame or by making the core experience feel forced. It's not a good reason to dismiss something that could have been amazing from the start.
It was a decent match that got a lot of attention, around 6 out of 10. Approval from Baba Ji was added later.
