what attempts were made? was the firmware current? did another system work with it? rma it or replace it

I attempted to update the firmware but it doesn't function properly. It prompts to hold down "D & L," yet nothing changes. I also tried it on my laptop, but it didn't work either—LEDs remain active even though the keyboard is plugged in, which prevents typing.
