Does Windows 11 act up and stop working?
I have been having trouble with my windows 11 computer lately. Sometimes it just sits there doing nothing. Things like folders, saving files in the save as feature, or even the task manager stop working and won't let me close them. This is what happens whether I use my PC for hours or just a few minutes.
Sometimes I can't open any programs at all, no matter what. Even if a program is already running, its buttons look clickable but they do nothing useful. I even have trouble shutting down the computer by holding the power button, because it doesn't work. Sometimes the shut down restart buttons turn on the screen while the PC still stays on.
I tried many things to fix this: malware scans, checking system files with sfc/scannow, running CHKDSK, testing memory, updating drivers and using DISM commands. I also did clean boot modes and safe mode settings. The problem is still here even after I did a Windows reset. I have no idea what's going on anymore. Any help would be really appreciated.
I keep checking the temperatures and they don't look bad. There are four drives on this computer: three hard disks and one fast m.2 SSD that windows uses. Here is what my hardware looks like right now. My Operating System is Windows 11 Home for 64-bit computers running version 10.0 with build number 22621 from May 2022. The company made the PC Micro-Star International and the model is MS-7B79. It uses a BIOS named H.H0 which supports UEFI technology. The main processor is an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 that has six cores running at about 3.6GHz. I have 24.5GB of RAM available, though only about 24.5GB is being used by the operating system, leaving around 24GB free. When it comes to the page file (a way for Windows to save data if needed), the computer has a lot of space—17GB used and about 36GB left. My Windows folder lives at C:\WINDOWS. Graphics support is handled via DirectX version 12, and my graphics card is an Nvidia RTX 3050.
If you have Windows on your M.2 slot and no other OS files are on those hard drives, unplug the SATA cables from all the hard drives and run an operational test. If your speeds and responsiveness come back, check each drive one by one. Also, make sure there isn't a motherboard rule that forces SATA to use only certain ports while M.2 is used.
