Does using Revit, AutoCAD, and a graphics card make my computer slower?
Hey there, so I just noticed a weird behavior with my GPU when using Autodesk stuff. Usually, I use Revit together with AutoCAD on three screens. With all three turned on, the GPU clock stays at normal levels as it should. In the past, using Revit + AutoCAD or even Sketchup never made the GPU clock go up from its base level; however now, whenever I run either of those first two programs, the GPU clock shoots up to load levels, like if I were playing games or doing heavy rendering work. This is new, it feels completely random. It was working fine after the recent Nvidia update (471.11), and suddenly without changing anything else in my system, the GPU started spiking up just when using those Autodesk programs alone. Tried using 3ds max, and that worked perfectly too, no weird clock changes. Same with Sketchup; both are really heavy 3D programs I've tried a clean driver install using DDU but the problem is still there. Any tips? Update: went back to driver 466.47 and the spiking stopped completely, everything is back to normal - which sucks because I was enjoying the performance of 471.11 when gaming
Here are some important details for your post about the computer's hardware and software. Please tell us exactly what kind of power supply it has, what brand or model, how many watts it uses, when it was bought, and if it looks good or bad. Sometimes this old power source gets tired and only works sometimes when you need more power.
sorry dude, i forgot about that one: Windows 10 21H1 with intel i9-9900k, gtx 1080ti, bequiet 850w straight power 11 gold. The only thing missing is the gpu from two years ago. Everything else is fine now. I've been modeling and drawing for four hours straight using both programs. The gpu clock is at what it should be. This came after driver 466.47, but with driver 471.11, it played games perfectly. For some games like bfv, the gpu temp never went past 70 degrees. After a week or so of updating both software and settings, Revit + Autocad worked just fine. Like i said, the gpu clock jumped up to load levels with both programs at first. It started with Autocad because I don't use it as much so i chose not to care about that part. But today, everything started happening again with Revit, which is my main program. There was no real performance lag or delay, but the gpu temp rose a few degrees from around 38° up to 42-44°. I turned off both programs and looked for a fix instead of using them for hours at a time just in case i could mess the machine up good and proper.
