Hello, I'm working with a customer in my repair shop concerning a Ryzen 3 2200G paired with an Asrock B450M Steel Legend. The main concern is this setup:

Hardware: Motherboard – AsRock B450M Steel Legend
CPU: Ryzen 3 2200G
GPU: AMD Elsa RX 580 2048sp 8GB
RAM: 2 x 8GB 2133Mhz
Storage: 500GB NV2 SSD + 480GB Goldenfir SSD
Power Supply: Redragon RGPS-500 500W 80 Plus Bronze PFC
It fails to boot. However, when switching the CPU to a Ryzen 5 2600, the system boots normally.

So far, it seems like the issue lies with the CPU, but when installed in this particular configuration, it works without problems. I've tested various motherboards, RAM configurations, BIOS settings, and even moved the board outside the case, but nothing resolves the problem. It only boots with the Ryzen 5 2600.

I’m not sure if it supports the Ryzen 3 2200G.

It looks like the motherboard you mentioned is correct, but in your first message you checked compatibility with the Ryzen 3 1200G, which isn't the one causing problems. On that link, the Asrock site states the 2200G is compatible with this board. In your second message, I couldn't verify you selected the 1200G because it didn't save your search result, but I think we're still dealing with the same confusion!

The motherboard accommodates it.
After installing the CPU, a CMOS reset may be necessary.

I selected the default BIOS settings inside the BIOS, not actually resetting the CMOS using a jumper or disconnecting the battery while it's off.

Only the changes you made manually in the BIOS are considered the ones you adjusted.
The Trusted Computing setting was disabled by turning off the fTPM checks.
My feedback was actually about removing the battery, but I haven’t tried shorting the CMOS with a jumper—I’ll add this to my to-do list for this board. Thank you.
I’m not sure if the BIOS always resets when installing a new CPU; I see a warning about it on the Gigabyte B450M, so I don’t know if it happens on the Asrock model. It might be that fTMP checks are being reenabled with each CPU change, though I’m not certain.
Do you have any other tests in mind that I should consider, since I don’t have the configuration handy?

Starting from BIOS version P2.50 and above, Pinnacle, Raven and Summit Ridge CPUs are no longer officially supported. Their functionality may vary; it could work or not. In your situation, the 2200G (Raven Ridge) does not function, while the 2600 (Pinnacle Ridge) does. The A10-9700 is completely unsupported. Refer to the CPU support list and BIOS version descriptions for more details.
