I recently installed a new system with a Ryzen 7 7700X on the Gigabyte B650 Gaming AX V2 motherboard. When I powered it up, the CPU indicator remained red. The power supply I’m using is outdated and came with a prebuilt PC (High Power HP1-J600GD-F12S). It provides 600W with dual 4-core CPUs and an additional 4-core CPU. Could this be the cause? Should I upgrade to a newer PSU or increase its wattage to accommodate the 8-pin CPU and extra pin configuration?

How old is the PSU and what did it power prior to this post?
Did you try connecting the 8(4+4)pin EPS connector onto the 8pin block on the motherboard?
Thumb rule with PSU's, if your PSU lacks the necessary connectors for your system/build, then you have;
a| the wrong PSU for your build
or
b| the wrong components for your PSU.
How are you cooling the processor? Inspect the CPU's socket for any bent or broken pins.

This listing offers improved information. I've been using it since 2020 and it worked well with my old i5-11400F and the same GPU. I installed the 4+4 connector and noticed the red CPU light appeared. I'm using the Phantom Spirit 120SE for cooling, and the issue persists even after reseating the CPU and cooler. I suspect a bent pin on the motherboard, possibly in the top section with an angled appearance. I plan to return it for a replacement.

Swapped the motherboard but the problem persisted. It seems like a dead CPU might be the next step.

The 8-pin CPU connector can deliver up to 300 W. Plugging in the 4+4 pin cable should work if the PSU is functioning correctly.
How did you obtain the CPU? Was it brand new or refurbished? If it was intended to be new, was the packaging sealed? Although a brand new CPU could be faulty, it's very uncommon.
Could you share your RAM details (brand, model, timing), GPU information, and CPU cooler?

I don’t have my GPU installed to reduce the chances. My cooler is a Phantom Spirit 120 SE. Everything is brand new. The boxes are sealed. A friend is installing his CPU on my board to check if it boots, which will help determine if I have a faulty CPU.

The worst idea ever came up because the reset switch header was causing the motherboard to fail to start. When I removed it, the computer worked properly. It seems my reset button could be stuck or damaged.
