Hello Tom, I'm a beginner in PC building and recently assembled an AMD system in September 2016 for personal and budget purposes. It's running smoothly without any performance problems. However, my PSU paired with the FX rig seems to be causing some concerns. Specifically, the DQ750ST is rated high on Johnnyguru, but I built it on a tight budget with limited options. Ultimately, the gigabyte board and case I purchased were the best choices I could find, along with the PSU and RX 470. I aimed to create an affordable AMD setup before upgrading to Zen, and I'm pleased with its performance in terms of space and VRMs.

But when using a 4,2GHz processor compared to my FX 125W 6-Core FX-6350, the PSU gets quite hot during rendering and under stress. I understand it can overheat and has protection features, but the capacitors are rated for 85°C. Since it needs to stay below 40°C for some reason, it gradually increases fan speed. This PSU seems well-designed for a budget build, though it's a bit noisy. It gets warmer when paired with the AMD FX CPU compared to my previous Dell system with an i5-2400, but it never crashes or overheats—it just functions properly. The heat comes mainly from the back of the rig, which might be due to the PSU rather than the motherboard.

I gave this review 7.5 out of 10 on Kitguru, saying it's worth considering. My build was done myself.

Based on the details of the PSU and your parts, it seems you're comfortably within its capabilities. This unit may not be the top choice available, but it provides ample margin so you won't reach its maximum capacity.
