Hey everyone
I've been using my PC for more than two years now, and the chips have been causing instability problems. After Intel admitted the issue, I updated my BIOS with the microcode patch, but the problem persisted. Last week, I sent in a return for replacement and got a brand new CPU. Still, random restarts keep happening. Anyone know what might be going on or how to resolve it?
I've double-checked that I'm running the right BIOS and microcode.

CPU: i7-14700KF
Motherboard: MSI PRO Z790-P WIFI
Power Supply: Corsair RM1000e 1000W 80+
GPU: GeForce RTX 3080 MSI SUPRIM X (AIO cooled)
90% of the time restarts occur during gaming, occasionally when idle.
Prior to Intel acknowledging the instability, I sent the system back to Cyberpower for a fresh Windows install, which they said fixed, but problems reappeared within the first week.

When the central speed and multiplier remain consistent between 55-56, you're in a solid heavy all-core overclock. Operating under this setup can lead to crashes when running certain tasks. You should aim for just two cores at 5.6, with the remaining cores adjusting to lower maximum clocks as per software and system constraints. Use hwinfo to check each core's clock.

As far as I can see there is no OC applied. It's a new CPU with a fresh BIOS. All BIOS settings are default besides XMP and Resizable BAR enabled.

MSI refers to it as enhanced turbo, similar to MCE (multi core enhancement). During the initial boot, it should prompt you about the type of cooler you have, with larger options applying these improvements. If the BIOS mentions 'intel defaults,' enable it and check for increased stability.

I followed your instructions and conducted stress tests and gaming all night without any issues so far.
I’ll provide an update within a week or as soon as another restart occurs, whichever comes first. Appreciate the support!

Consider this when adjusting performance; you won't automatically surpass the standard settings, but you'll need to make adjustments manually.

I faced another restart this morning after playing for an hour in City Skylines 2. It's really annoying. I own a valuable box in my living room that costs a lot of money, but it's completely unusable now.

Your temperatures during gameplay are what stand out. It seems the heat and voltage levels are likely causing issues. I suspect frequent shutdowns due to high temperatures could wear down the chip slightly each time. This isn't a guarantee, but it's possible.

I've been using the 14600K since it was new, and I learned to keep it undervolted from the beginning. About a year and a half ago, I purchased an MSI Pro 790A-Wifi MOBO. Intel has acknowledged that these components can have defects, and elevated temperatures might speed up their decline. However, adjusting the voltage could be something worth experimenting with.
