Does the GPU show up when you try to start the computer without a BIOS?
Hi. I got an Emtek GTX 1060 6GB card from my friend and it acts really weird. It only runs in old style modes, but never on the new UEFI setup. I can't even get into the BIOS because this card needs UEFI to work. When I turn on the PC with Windows, it shows some messages if I try legacy mode. I tried changing a few things like flashing different versions of the video chip (VBIOs), tweaking motherboard settings for CSM and primary graphics, upgrading the NVIDIA display port, testing both HDMI and DP ports, trying new monitors, swapping motherboards, CPUs, and so on. None of those tricks got it working in UEFI mode. The only thing is that GPU-Z says UEFI is supported, which means it should be fine for UEFI settings. But it works great in legacy mode. Gaming, stress testing, everything else works perfectly there. Could this just be a hardware problem?
When someone asks for help with their troubleshooting post, they should share what all of their computer's parts look like. Please write down your specs like this: CPU: CPU cooler: Motherboard: Ram: SSD/HDD: GPU: PSU: Chassis: OS: Monitor: Also tell how old the power supply is besides its make and model number. For your motherboard, put the BIOS version right now at this exact moment. Back in the day, if either the motherboard or the VBIOS didn't have UEFI support, you would get a black screen even though the system started up to show your operating system's graphical user interface. You could try using your iGPU (if you have one) as a fix. However, please remember that changing your VBIOS might brick your GPU if things go wrong.
