Does the game only stop working on your new PC? Could you help interpret the .dmp file?
I created a new PC.
All previous software functions properly except for one game.
That game is 'The Cave' by Double Fine.
About 99% of the time, the two logo screens display, but as soon as "Loading" appears, the game either freezes or crashes.
Occasionally, when I try different solutions, it loads without issues. If I save and close, then restart it, it still crashes.
I've tried almost everything—disabling cloud saves/loads, checking file integrity, uninstalling/reinstalling, changing storage, turning off the resizable bar, disabling background apps, adjusting screen resolution, editing the screen.dat file to mimic my old system, and altering Windows sound settings to bypass VoiceMeeter. Still nothing consistent works.
The last time it ran, I had just shut down Discord, but relaunching without changes caused a crash.
It creates a .dmp file each time it crashes, but I don’t know how to interpret it (even with the decoding app).
First question: Should I share a .dmp file? Does it hold any sensitive information I shouldn’t share?
Second question: Can anyone guess what’s happening based on the .dmp file?
So here are the details, but I'm mainly interested in someone who can understand the .dmp file. Also, if you think about it, I probably already attempted this while fixing the problem (like enabling Compatibility mode). Additionally, the game works well on an i9 9900K with a 2080 Super on the same operating system.
