Hey All,
I've been facing some issues lately, especially with this kind of gameplay.
First things first:
5600x CPU - at sock settings - XMP profile on for RAM @ 3200 - ReBar - ON / PBO set to Auto - Boosts reach 4.65, no problems.
3080 Suprim X - minor overclock on Core + 105 vram + 200 - stable without crashes, OC curve was configured by MSI afterburner
32gb or Ram xmp on - confirmed dual channel works
B550 Aorus Master - GPU runs on PCIe 4.0 x 16 confirmed
OS and games are running on NVMe SSD
850W gold PSU Corssair? I think? GPU is confirmed to draw over 400W under load during 3d mark.
Latest BIOS / Chipset drivers / Latest Nvidia driver with B4B dlss support
Windows 10 Pro - 21h1 updated
==========================
3d mark scores - overall around 15600, GPU _18500, CPU_8300 looks pretty average. Usage during the session is fine.
Tried Rebar on / off. Same results essentially.
Now what’s really puzzling me is performance in certain games, specifically -
- FarCry4 / Hunt / Back 4 Blood. (they all behave similarly)
So here’s what I observe: when nothing is happening and frames are smooth, I get around 180 - 200+ depending on the situation.
GPU usage stays at 90% and CPU around 50-70%.
Once activity picks up, GPU drops sharply to 40-50% and CPU to 30-60%, with more activity leading to lower frame rates and higher usage.
I thought this was normal, but after others saying Back 4 Blood can run on a low-end machine, I’m wondering if something might be off with my setup.
I play games at 1440p, for example in Back 4 Blood with Epic settings (Max), it drops to 70 fps when there’s no action, and during intense moments it falls to 280-320 fps.
I usually cap frames at 138, but those drops are really bothersome.
Someone suggested upgrading the CPU. I could buy a 5900x, but all reviews suggest a +5% boost from 5600x... I’m not sure if I should be paying that much extra.
Sorry for the long message, if anyone has any tips or ideas, I’d appreciate it!

Does this occur primarily in those titles or also in many newer games?
