Hey, can someone help explain how to fix the webcam freezing during gaming?
If I press Alt+Tab while the background limits to 30fps or if I set the in-game maximum frame rate to 30fps, the webcam runs smoothly, but when I play a 2024 game like Black Ops 6 at 31fps it causes issues—my webcam shows lag or behaves like slow-motion at 20fps.
I’m using the latest OBS (no plugins), Elgato Facecam with updated firmware, Windows 11.
I’ve tried lowering the webcam resolution and framerate in OBS, using USB bulk and isochronous mode, testing all USB ports, checking bandwidth with a single USB device, updating drivers, and even considering a BIOS update for my X570 chipset. Elgato mentioned my GPU isn’t powerful enough, but my friend with a weaker RTX 20 series GPU didn’t have problems.
On the OBS Forums someone suggested using power-saving mode and USB selective suspend—will try that tomorrow. Still wondering if it’s something else since my PC stays active while gaming. Thanks!
