I currently have an Asus RTX 4060 Ti card in the first slot, and a very small card in the bottom PCIe slot. I need this card, so I can't just take it out. I ordered a 16GB ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX™ 5080, but I'm concerned that I won't be able to use it, because I keep reading that it takes up 3.5 slots, which makes me think that it doesn't leave any space for even a small card.
Does anyone here have experience installing this card and can tell me if it leaves enough space for one small card in the bottom slot? My motherboard is the ROG STRIX Z790-E GAMING WIFI II

Based on this build/image, if you have the current GPU in the final PCIe slot, you can replace it with the RTX 5080 in the first PCIe lane. For clarity, could you share the details of your case?

A portion of the slot width must always be rounded up, ensuring 5080 functions as a four-slot card. There should be at least two slots with space between them, preventing the top card from being blocked by air. Losing access to the second or middle slot is inevitable.

I've spent two decades as a PC enthusiast and this is my present motherboard.
Model: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. STRIX X99 GAMING Rev 1.xx
Serial: 160572517000138
Clock Speed: 100 megahertz
UEFI: American Megatrends Inc. 1902 03/21/2018
You mention "...a very small card in the bottom PCIe slot"... curious about what you mean?

It is a Blackmagic Decklink card featuring HDMI and SDI outputs, designed for video editing and color grading tasks. It occupies minimal space, making it easy to fit alongside other components without significantly affecting layout.

For those encountering this discussion, I chose the 5070 Ti because it matches the same dimensions, which is impressive. The real issue isn't the height—it provides ample room. The main challenge is fitting the long card into the slot. You need to adjust its angle, position it as close as possible to the motherboard, and align it properly. Simply lowering it won’t work; you must tweak it carefully. The included support is quite short—about 9.2 cm when extended, whereas the required length is around 18.1 cm. In my experience, this varies by case. To secure the card, I used zip ties to attach its end to the case temporarily while searching for a better fit.

Does any manufacturer offer supports that can be trimmed to the desired size?

Edit: Yes, these are referred to as support brackets.

You might find materials nearby for a homemade project, such as using Lego pieces, empty bottles, or a cut wood section.

Likely, but for 20 dollars I'd rather avoid searching for a homemade fix when I can have something tailored just for this need:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08C2CTPV6?ref...title&th=1
I've got two of those arriving tomorrow. They should work just fine.
