You can run Windows 10 freely without activation for as long as you wish, though you'll notice the watermark and limited customization options.

Previously, desktop versions of Windows 10 lacked a time restriction for unactivated installations. They could run without a limit until Microsoft changed its policy. Server setups can be used with an Evaluation license, usually valid for about 180 days before a purchase is required. Still, you can operate Windows servers unactivated, which seems to be open-ended as well—though I haven't personally tested it since most of my systems are licensed through AVMA.

Moved to Windows *** Previously offered a 30-day trial (90 days for enterprise). Windows 10 lacks that feature. Experience is less straightforward now. After the trial, certain functionalities become restricted, though it doesn’t disable the entire operating system as before. Running Windows post-trial isn’t ideal according to expectations. This situation is linked to unauthorized use without a valid license. Linus has around 30-50 copies available, which explains the situation.
