Does Outlook 2019 not work with my Outlook.com account?
Does Outlook 2019 not work with my Outlook.com account?
Hi everyone, I am looking for some help. I got a new Windows 11 PC with Office 2019 recently. I have two email accounts: Gmail and outlook.com. My main account is Gmail, so I set that up in Outlook about a couple of weeks ago. It took me a while because there were two-step verification steps, but after several tries it worked.
Today I am trying to add my outlook.com account, but it won't connect. I also have 2-factor auth on my outlook.com account. When I try to log in, I type in the password and get an error saying it's wrong, even though that is correct. I can login via Outlook web, so why does this fail?
Because of 2-step verification, I generated an app password at Microsoft Account Security/Advanced Security Options. But when I enter the app password into Outlook login screen, it still says the password is incorrect.
I tried using my authenticator app on my phone for a different way to sign in, but that didn't work either. I also tried sending a text message to my mobile number hoping to bypass the 2-step verification, but the SMS only goes to an ending code of 82. This is strange since my MS account did not have a phone number assigned to it, and even after adding my phone to the account, it still only gives me that 82 option.
I don't know if anyone can help with this issue, but I would appreciate any assistance. Thanks
Sign into your Outlook.com account with your normal password. Click your initials in the top right corner and then choose View Account. Go to Security, click Update, and under More security options, pick Explore. Scroll down to find the app passwords section and select Create a new app password. You'll see this password on the next screen; just write it down carefully. To log into Outlook 2019, sign in using this App password.
Hi popatim, thanks for taking a look at my reply. I think I already did this before but I'll try once more tomorrow because the message says "You've tried to sign in too many times with an incorrect account or password". Hopwfully it will let me have another go tomorrow. Thanks for your help so far.
