Does my PSU have enough power for my needs?
Does my PSU have enough power for my needs?
Hey, I'm updating my old setup.
I'm getting:
CPU: i7-8700k (intending to overclock later)
MB: MSI Z370 GAMING M5
GPU: 2 x GTX 970 in SLi (already overclocked, plan to do it again)
HDD: 3 x Seagate 1Tb RAID 0
SSD: 240 Gb Kingston
Fans: 6 x 120 mm with a fan controller
USB devices: 1 External HDD, Mice, Keyboard, Mic, Headset, Controllers.
I've visited several sites to check system power consumption. Some reported around 650w, others up to 750w. I've purchased a Straight Power CM 10 700W, but it's not available yet.
My question is: Is it large, bad, and too power-hungry for my needs?
Yes, I did some research before buying the PSU, but as I keep seeing more info (because of the hype), I'm still unsure.
If you've already purchased it, I'd personally likely use it. The ideal would be 800 watts.
Dunlop0078 suggests it should be sufficient with 700 watts. But you might need to increase it further due to the overclocking of both GPU and CPU.
