Does my MSI GT72VR 6RE have a broken auto fan? It's not spinning when I expect it to.
Does my MSI GT72VR 6RE have a broken auto fan? It's not spinning when I expect it to.
Hey everyone, I own an MSI GT72VR 6RE and I'm having trouble. Even after reinstalling Windows and all the programs for this laptop, something is wrong. The fans do spin, but they are very slow. This makes it hot, getting up to 95 degrees Celsius. When I hit the cool button on the keyboard, the fans go full speed and the temperature drops a lot. If I use Dragon Center software to change fan speeds manually, the temps become normal. My question is: why do I have to manually set the fan speed for it to work right? Why won't the fans spin normally without me changing settings? Is there a problem with this laptop or my device? Please help me out. Thank you.
You might want to check if there are BIOS updates coming up. Where did you get the OS installer from? Also, when you installed everything on your laptop, did you run it as a special admin user by right-clicking and choosing Run as Administrator?
Thank you for getting back to me. My laptop has the newest BIOS installed, and I found my operating system using the Windows upgrade tool. Sometimes I have tried running things as an administrator, but not sure if all of them were fully finished with those steps.
Have you ever looked at your bios and found a choice for the fans that lets you change the setting at Dragon Center?
Head into the BIOS menu and scroll down to the Advanced section, then look for Hardware Monitor. Turn on the setting for the CPU smart fan target. If you can't find a minimum fan speed option here, just let me know what your computer is doing so I can help.
Hey, actually, there isn't an option for me to turn on my fans in here. Take a look at that picture I sent you under the Advanced section and check it out.
