Does my computer suddenly stop working?
Hello, since I recently upgraded my computer, it occasionally powers off after about an hour or two of gaming, happening roughly twice during a session. It doesn’t occur every day, but sometimes it does. At the time of upgrading, everything worked smoothly for a week or so, then it would randomly restart several times. I’m not very familiar with PC issues and have always gotten help, so I’m unsure what might be causing this. I’ve tried everything to resolve it. The upgrade was about two months ago, and I made significant changes—replacing the motherboard, CPU, RAM, power supply, and other components. The new parts included DDR5 RAM, a Cosair RM750x 80 plus gold power supply, an ASUS TUF gaming B650-E WIFI motherboard, AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D. Before the upgrade, I had a 4070 Super cooler, a NZXT Kraken 120 cooler, and a 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD, along with Windows 11.
Random reboots or shutdowns usually stem from two problems:
1. The CPU/GPU gets too hot and the system stops to avoid damage.
2. The power supply fails to provide sufficient power to the GPU or maintains unstable voltage for the PC.
First, check your CPU/GPU temperatures—both when idle and under load. If they’re normal, the PSU might be the issue.
RMx is a reliable PSU, but even top models can have faults. If temperatures are fine, consider contacting the manufacturer for an RMA. RMx comes with a 10-year warranty.
