Does my 6600mhz RAM not work at that frequency?
Does my 6600mhz RAM not work at that frequency?
The display in Task Manager indicates a speed of 3600. I'm using the CORSAIR Dominator Platinum RGB 64GB (4 x 16GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6600. I've attempted to set it to DOCP 1 and DOCP 2, but the PC won't boot. The BIOS is up to date, and my motherboard is an ASUS TUF Gaming X670E-PLUS, which supports that speed.
Other specifications:
- RAM: 7800x3d
- VRAM: rtx 4080
- Operating System: Windows 11
- Booting issue: POSTed in Safe Mode due to system instability

Regarding BIOS, what version are you using for your motherboard?
You might consider using two sticks of RAM instead of four, placed in slots A2 and B2. If this setup functions, your built-in memory controller may not support it or the 4-stick configuration.
From the motherboard RAM compatibility chart, it seems that a configuration of four 16GB modules at 6600 MHz is only available for the 9000 series chips.
It seems I wasn't aware of specific rams working for Intel versus AMD.
Visit the motherboard website and check the QVL list for verified memory setups. These entries show part numbers that have been confirmed to function properly. Purchasing kits from this list should ensure they operate at the specified speeds. Items not listed haven't been tested, so their performance isn't guaranteed. This doesn't guarantee success but indicates you're testing and might need to tweak timings for compatibility. Generally, using two memory sticks is preferable over four, as the CPU and motherboard controller tend to handle them more efficiently and quickly.
