This is serious, I created an account just to find some genuine answers. I have a laptop and placed it in a microwave in storage to conceal it when I'm away from home. No one will even look inside that way. However, someone in my household discovered the extra microwave and used it for a minute. I was shocked when I found out. I restarted my laptop, and so far on the bottom screen there are distorted pixels. The laptop and data appear to be fine so far.

I have my life and everything stored on this laptop, so I'm asking experts about its reliability moving forward. Will there be concerns about new data being added? What about the internal components like the battery, motherboard, SSD? Everything seems normal now except for some dead pixels on the bottom left screen.

Best to not trust it and consider getting a new laptop or keep using it since it looks okay at the moment?

Yes, you're referring to the idea of a hidden microwave and the experiment with the Hot Pocket inside.

I'm an older adult and don't have time to be lying or trolling or whatever you call it these days.
I always look for a clever spot to hide my laptop when I'm away from home, always in a different place this time—it's been in the microwave for two weeks and it's been fine. Then suddenly today I find out my laptop was seen in the microwave and used for just a minute.
So far everything seems okay with the data. For safety, I'll just replace the battery.
Just now, I turned it upside down and saw the plastic melted, so my main worry is really the person who ate the food along with destroying my laptop.

Microwaves don't affect or warm up plastic, so any melting is likely due to contact with metal. If it catches fire, there would be no smoke, making it safe.

At the very least, ensure all crucial information is saved if the device still starts. It's uncertain whether any harm exists or if it will still function tomorrow.
I'm ready to accept failure if it breaks, but I'd prefer it to work again in a few days. If it were my own, I would have already dismantled it for a thorough check.
This story has never been heard before, so I have no idea what kind of issues might arise, but I must be ready for the worst and hope for the best.

There could be something comparable to this. Numerous fine wires are present within a laptop.
