I am getting higher performance/FPS when I press windows key or alt-tabbing while ingame, I get way less!
Can someone restore my sanity pls? cause its driving me INSANE.
RTX 4090
14900K 5.9GHz
7200MHz DDR5
4K NEO G8 240Hz
2nd monitor using IGPU
So far I've tried everything, from reseting bios to unpluging my 2nd monitor, changed the game from borderless, fullscreen etc..
I've never been this desperate after trying to find everywhere on the internet yesterday..
EDIT: Here's a recording of it

Does it occur in any game or is it limited to one? If it’s one, which one? Consider performing a clean boot and observe if there are changes—follow the instructions carefully and avoid disabling any Microsoft services or Windows won’t load properly.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help...in-windows
It doesn’t remove anything; it simply halts non-Microsoft programs when they’re started. This is straightforward to undo.
If a clean boot resolves the issue, it likely points to a startup program. Over several restarts, try running the stopped programs to pinpoint the culprit.
Nvidia overlay has been associated with this problem.

Still the same result. I also removed the full DDU driver and switched to an older version, but it hasn't changed.

I've played Overwatch 2 and experienced high FPS, though the 1% struggles a lot. The same goes for Cyberpunk. It's using an Asus Z790 PRIME A with the newest BIOS updates.

I’ve found one individual with the same issue in Overwatch.
Link
This issue appears across many games.
It might be related to game caps, but it becomes uncapped when using the alt tab.
Link
The game operates smoothly without focus but slows significantly when focused.

I believe my only option is to reinstall Windows. I plan to do it after my new Z790 NOVA from ASROCK, with 8000MHz RAM all day!
I've been trying to fix it for a while but kept it as a last resort.
Interesting, things seemed fine before installing my new 14900K as an upgrade to the 13700K. Now I'm getting worse performance with the 14900K!
I think something went wrong when I changed the CPU.

Have you attempted to reset the CMOS after swapping the CPU?
