Does ASUS offer a "12VHPWR Adapter Cable" to connect their Thor 850W power supplies for an RTX 3080 Ti?
Hi,
The information you're looking for is specifically about ASUS offering a "12VHPWR Adapter Cable" for their Thor 850W PSU to power an RTX 3080 Ti. I understand you prefer not to use the specialized micro-penis 2x8 pin PCIe adapter from Nvidia. I checked for details on Thor PSUs, but other brands like beQuiet have alternatives available if you already own a PSU from their earlier series. Let me know if you'd like help finding that option.
Over and out . . .
Instead of choosing an 850W model, consider a more powerful option, such as one with around 1KW or slightly more for extra flexibility.
It's good to know you've been using the PSU they launched, and you're searching for a specific PCIe cable to link your RTX 3080 Ti with your Thor PSU directly. I understand you're having difficulty finding one online. Thanks for reaching out!
Beyond the other parts of the system having little impact on overall power consumption, and relying on HWinfo to track performance (a decent reference point), running Heaven in fullscreen 4K at the "Extreme" setting, along with Cinebench's Multi Core test, showed the GPU drawing a maximum of 244.206 W while the CPU used 327.724 W. Even adding an estimated 200 W for other components would bring the total system draw to around 771.93 W under the heaviest load. This isn't reflective of typical gaming or productivity usage, but it still leaves room with a 850 W Platinum PSU.

Just wanted to confirm if anyone discovered a trustworthy "16pin 12VHPWR Adapter cable" for the 'ASUS THOR 850 W PSU'. The provided one is unusually short, bends poorly, and doesn’t fit well in my Lian-Li O11 Dynamic—it pushes against the glass. CableMOD also mentioned their 90 degree adapter but stopped production after causing fire risks in some setups.
I reached out to ASUS directly, but they haven’t responded. I might go ahead and sell this unit and purchase a different PSU with a native HPWR PCIe port.
