Hey everyone,
I just put together a new PC. Here are the details:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Yv3jN6
To get the most out of it, I started using AOE 2, but I got a warning from the game saying tampering was detected. It might have been because of my antivirus (Bitdefender). I ran some exceptions and tried to play again, but the game just crashed to the desktop with no errors. This happened four times, and I lost my rank too.
I haven’t seen anything like this before on my old machine.
The exceptions I gave Bitdefender are listed here.
There’s also no Steam overlay option available, and the GPU driver is up-to-date.
I’m a bit concerned this problem might affect other games as well.

I tried playing single player just five minutes ago and it crashed again. I updated the GPU driver after opening this thread, uninstalled and re-downloaded the game, but it still crashes after about ten minutes. The CPU and GPU temperatures were 61 and 50 respectively. I also found the crash log, but I don’t know how to interpret it.

If XMP is disabled, I'd also check for any unusual BIOS settings that might interfere.
The x3d CPUs are quite sensitive to RAM overclocks and could suffer damage if the BIOS isn't current or if you push the RAM beyond its limits.
Unless AOE games are stable, it should perform well on a fresh operating system.

Thank you for the update. I faced an issue assembling this PC because my motherboard seemed defective. After replacing the card, everything worked fine. A friend assisted me during a second attempt. He adjusted the RAM settings before installing Windows from BIOS. The RAM speed was 4400MHz and he informed me it was underperforming, suggesting it should be 6000MHz. It appears he may have overclocked it. The RAM specifications are:

G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36 Memory

Can this adjustment be classified as overclocking?

And i'm just looking at the bios. The rams are at 4800mhz. I don't know how it came to be this way.

It is possible and widely recognized. If your CPU receives more than 1.3V from the soc (the component with memory controller), it may cause lasting harm.

I don't believe I have XMP. However, isn't it true that the default speed for this problem is 6000MHz? It might have dropped back to 4800MHz after I updated the BIOS.

The maximum RAM speed for your CPU with two RAM sticks is 5200. If your friend installed it at 6000 with settings that were too high, it could already be damaged, making the BIOS unable to reach 5200 anymore. Or it might just be a default setting issue requiring manual adjustment to achieve 5200.

How can i know if is there damage or no? Beside this gaming issue? It might be something else.
