Does a weak overclock lead to frames slowing down or stuttering?
Does a weak overclock lead to frames slowing down or stuttering?
Here are your specs rephrased:
EVGA 1080ti FTW3
i7 9700k
32GB DDR4 RAM (3200mhz)
MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Edge AC motherboard
I’m reaching out because I’m experiencing stuttering and frame drops in games like Escape From Tarkov and Rainbow Six Siege. In EFT I can attribute the issues to its lack of optimization, making it a tough game to run. However, in Rainbow Six Siege I maintain consistent 200 to 200 FPS but notice occasional frame skips that become bothersome over time. I mostly rely on CPU and RAM overclocking. My CPU runs at 4.8ghz while RAM is at 2800mhz. I rarely encounter crashes or major problems except for stuttering when pushing higher settings. Since I’m not very experienced with overclocking, any tips would be greatly appreciated.
DDR4 memory should ideally run at a minimum of 3000MHZ, though this can vary based on your monitor's refresh rate. Crashes aren't always linked to overclocking; they might stem from issues like power supply problems or overheating.
I'm having issues reaching the 2900mhz speed, which causes crashes and problems. My monitor runs at 240hz but is g-synced, so it should adjust the refresh rate accordingly. I've checked my temperatures, which are consistently in the high 60s to mid to high 70s during load, so that doesn't seem to be the cause. My PSU is 1000W, and I don't think it's the main problem. The crashing appears to happen when I lower the settings, but if I go beyond my limits it keeps crashing.
