It seems the problem might be related to file extensions rather than my browser or operating system. Whenever I save .zip files, they transform into .bbz files, which is linked to BrailleBlaster. I can adjust the extension settings manually, but it still causes confusion and extra steps. The issue has been ongoing for a few weeks, and I haven’t made any recent changes that might explain it. The BrailleBlaster app itself isn’t new, and I’ve verified its file associations in both Firefox and Windows. It looks like the extension settings are being altered automatically, which isn’t ideal since I want to open files directly without changing them.

Failed attempt. Attempted a refresh but the downloads kept trying to load the .bbz files despite uninstalling.

BrailleBlaster has changed how files are linked, even after you verified the correct association in Windows. It might need a Windows update or a patch from Microsoft. Deleting the program should follow the default settings or reach out to Microsoft for help. There could also be an option within BrailleBlaster itself.

In the Save As dialog, the available file formats are displayed. The system cannot automatically rename or alter extensions; it only indicates which application should open the selected file.

The only choices available are 'all files' and 'BrailleBlaster document'. The extension wasn't clearly specified, so downloads appear as .bbz files even without the full program. This suggests it's saving under a default name like floor_FrenchTile-Tile-CGT.

There’s another method to verify if Windows updates are required beyond the standard check. BrailleBlaster doesn’t display update status in Braille, so you’ll need to look for a different interface or tool to see if updates are pending. You might want to consider removing it if only two free transcription tools exist, as it could be unnecessary.

It appeared the problem wasn't related to Firefox but rather to Windows settings. Someone on the Microsoft support forum assisted by pointing out that the registry was saving ZIP files in a specific format (bbz). This clarification helped resolve the issue. Thank you for your cooperation!
