I worked on a Word document recently, but an issue occurred with my file—error message appeared saying it couldn’t open the (.doc) or (.docx) format. I tried several fixes, but nothing helped. I’m looking for ways to recover or restore the DOCX file.

Likely just corrupted, by that stage the only options are probably limited to salvaging what you can using tools like Notepad++.

It seems there are no viable alternatives if the issue is corruption. It appears to be the case.

Below you might discover many different ways to fix the problem or alternative methods you could try https://www.restoretools.com/wordrestore.html Word Restore Toolbox – Various "text" recovery options. - I attempted using word to repair and open the files - I checked opening them in other text editors like Notepad and WordPad - I used winzip, WinRAR, and 7-Zip to retrieve the data - I adjusted Word’s settings to open documents as drafts - I also tried inserting text from a document using Word.
