Do you require the Steam Controller with your Steam Link setup?
EB Games will release the Steam Link for $36 AUD this evening. It seems the Steam Controller isn't strictly necessary for complete use, though an Xbox One or PS4 controller can handle the game fully via the Steam Link.
You can connect other devices to it. I have a link and don’t have a Steam controller. I use an Xbox 360 controller with a USB dongle, but I’m sure it also works with a mouse and keyboard.
