Hey everyone, I recently purchased a new NVME drive to upgrade my old Samsung 250GB SSD. I thought I’d use cloning software to transfer everything from the 850 EVO to the P5 Plus. But every time I look, they all point to a USB to SSD cable. Is that cable really needed?

Only require the cable when the device you're copying doesn't support linking both drives together. For example, if you have just an NVMe port or one SATA port.

You're wondering about linking the two drives together since they're already connected through your motherboard.

They are linked via the motherboard. Inserting two flash drives into the computer allows you to use both simultaneously... similar idea
