Hello, here are some suggestions for purchasing a laptop in the 250-400 euro range. I've chosen one option but would appreciate your thoughts and other alternatives.

When it comes to programming, what tools do you prefer?

If not a USB keyboard, then prioritize keyboard and touchpad.
Poor input devices can ruin productivity—bad keyboards or mice are a real issue.

Next, consider the screen. A faulty display can strain your eyes or force you to use oversized text.

Then RAM—absolutely essential.

Finally, CPU and battery life matter a lot.

Have you actually handled the model in mind?

Definitely try handling the upcoming laptop. Focus on the screen brightness and the keyboard's texture. Your budget might limit you to a mid-range option. You'll need more than the standard 8GB of RAM and 128GB of SSD. Often, these components can be upgraded more affordably if you handle them yourself. For reference, test a Lenovo ThinkPad which offers a great keyboard.

the only other thing i'd add to what kanewolf mentioned is thinking about what you're programming.
make sure the laptop can handle whatever you plan to create.
i noticed this when i was teaching—when the school bought new computers for programming classes and saved big. the students could run visual studio and write whatever they wanted, but eventually the machine wasn’t powerful enough to run their projects. so they tested it out again and again.
so take a few minutes to think about more than just typing it up; ensure it can run the final product so you can actually test it.
