Upgrading my PC with a fresh build would make it simple to insert my existing m.2 SSD without needing to reinstall Windows again. I understand I might need to reinstall drivers, but I wonder if there are any other complications. It seems most required drivers should install automatically, and I could use a tool like Driver Easy to update or install missing ones.

You have a 50/50 chance of success, a 25% chance it might work but with some lingering problems, and a 25% chance it won’t boot at all.
Windows 10 and 11 offer better stability, making it easier to transfer between systems and manage the OS.
There will still be challenges when activating Windows, such as needing to activate via phone. After entering a long sequence of numbers, you’ll be prompted to confirm activation on your device.
Avoid using third-party tools for driver installation; they often install outdated or incorrect drivers. Instead, visit the manufacturer’s website and download and install drivers manually.
