My PC is finally hitting the stage where an OC for my 2600k becomes essential. The motherboard is an ASUS p8p67 Pro (first revision). Previous attempts at auto OC have not worked, even at a decent 4 GHz without any tweaks, so it seems I might not have a good chip. Right now, I'm targeting around 4.2 GHz as a starting point.

What else, besides changing the CPU multiplier, is required?

I hope you're not attempting to overclock a CPU with an air cooler... and best of luck.
