Do you really think that a separate graphics card isn't going to work anymore?
Hey, I got a laptop with an Nvidia GeForce 940MX card and I think this hardware is broken. When I checked in GPU-Z, it said no clock speed and no video memory, even though the card seems to be active. I've been using my integrated graphics instead because they work, but that's not fun since I have an Intel i5-7200U processor with HD Graphics 620. If anyone can help me out that would be super cool. I also tried updating it, but the video BIOS is stuck on my old system from a previous PC while the new one has newer software.
To check if your work is done, just look in Device Manager and see if you see a little green light turning red (the exclamation mark) next to your 940MX graphics card. If that happens and you also see "0MB" on the GPU-Z page, then sure, your computer's graphics are completely broken. You'll have to buy a whole new motherboard, which is basically like buying a brand-new laptop today with all the latest tech.
