Do you need a laptop charger suitable for an HGV truck or car?
I just bought a new Acer Nitro 5 laptop. I need to charge it while driving in the UK, since I work as an HGV driver. My truck has both 12V and 24V sockets, and most trucks I use have USB connections too, and my laptop uses a USB-C port. Any advice would be really helpful.

Could you assist us with the SKU for your Acer Nitro 5 laptop? If your HGV lacks a USB port or charger, a cigarette lighter charger might work. If you can't find the SKU for your laptop, feel free to share the power brick details, pictures, or wattage.
It's advisable to choose an inverter suitable for this purpose. A model capable of handling 300W or higher should work well with your laptop.

It's a joke about my mistake, but I wanted to confirm the expected current draw for a 12V cigarette socket. The typical maximum is around 20A, which equals 240W, though it might drop to as low as 10A, providing 120W. Your truck has fuses, so if you go over the limit, it should just shut off. However, the laptop usually operates between 150-180W on AC adapters, and unless you're charging everything at full capacity, it won't reach those levels. So in short, it should be safe, but make sure to check your truck's fuse box.
The 12V inverter won't function in this setup. A 12V outlet provides 60W, but a 24V option would be preferable if available.
