Hello. It has been 15 years since I played video games. Do you have any standalone DVD games that run on Windows 8.1 without needing a subscription to an online service, just like back in my day?

Yes, Steam, Origin, GOG Galaxy, Epic Games Store, and many other places let you buy games once and pay only when you play them. Signing up costs nothing. If you are asking if people still sell physical copies for PC games today, the answer is no. Even if you buy a game in a shop that sells boxed discs or DVDs, most of those boxes just come with one code inside or a gift card. You have to go back to an online store to use that code.

If you are still using Windows 8.1, it's like a broken rule, but you can probably download the Windows 10 media creation tool and run it to upgrade your computer. I think they meant to turn off this feature but never actually did. When I tried to update from an old version of Windows 7 or higher with the free upgrade option, it always worked. Windows 10 is way better than either of those versions ever was in my opinion.
