Do you know why the colors in Nvidia Control Panel don't show up in VLC? Is there a fix for this?
I really like having more color saturation, but the video color settings in the Nvidia Control Panel don't work with VLC media player. Even when I reset everything, uninstall and reinstall VLC, it still won't follow those color rules. What could have happened? Is there any fix or workaround for this? My computer specs are: a Ryzen 5 3600 processor (running at stock speed but slightly under-volted because of overheating), 1x8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DRR4 running at 3200 MHz, a MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC motherboard with an AMD Radeon Strix GTX 1660 Ti GPU and Addlink S70 monitor, a 512GB boot drive from Samsung, 500GB of storage on the Corsair CX65M SSD, a power supply unit from Corsair, Windows 11 Build 22000.120 (the problem started even before I had an insider build), and Nvidia Control Panel version 8.1.961.0 with a GeForce game-ready driver at version 471.68.
Update your post with full system hardware specs and OS details. Where did you get VLC from? What version is it? Did you manually uninstall, download, and reinstall? Are you using any third-party installers or tools? I found this link: https://wiki.videolan.org/VLC_HowTo...try the menu bar settings, maybe adjust Gamma. Could you try those configuration options? Maybe a command line change will fix it?
Done! The official site was Videolan.com. I removed version 3.0.16 (64-bit) first by hand, then tried using an uninstaller with no success. Only the video color settings worked when I reset my Nvidia panel to default, which is what it should be doing. But VLC isn't following that rule even though the colors were set correctly just now. It's a bit annoying 🙁 When I changed the video output on VLC to Direct3D9, it followed the Nvidia panel setting, yet again it didn't work for compressed x265 content.
