Do you know what kind of link a Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War game has?
I started playing COD Black Ops Cold War and set my internet connection type to moderate. Now, I want to switch it to open, but nothing happens after all those steps. The main thing I tried was opening ports in my router, which didn't help at all. In the game itself, they told me to open up port 3074, and I did that too. I even looked at some videos for more ports to try opening, but still nothing changed. I switched my network setting from private to public and back again without success. I also tried letting the firewall let the game through, but if I close that page and open it up again, everything just resets like never happened. There are a bunch of entries in the game's settings for ports, some say "COD Modern Warfare" instead of Black Ops Cold War. Even though most are set to public already, one is private and another isn't picked at all. If I change both of those to public and then shut down the firewall page again, it goes right back to how it was before. Some videos suggest checking the router settings in Windows 11 by right-clicking the router icon and going into properties. But when I did that, it just said nothing was available or not found. I'm not sure why this is happening even though others playing with a similar setup had no trouble at all. It feels like something is wrong with my connection type or how I'm trying to set things up.
I was told my connection showed a medium level of difficulty back then, but it worked perfectly for me and didn't cause any problems. That's true even with all those other Call of Duty titles I played earlier on. If you're able to play what kind of game is that so I can understand better?
I haven't been playing this for long, so no problems yet. But not sure if matchmaking would be faster here compared to when it's moderate. Usually, finding a group takes several seconds anyway. That might just be normal even with open mode. It says in the game that open can make matching easier too. Also, my group is all on open, and I don't want to slow things down by being the first one to find someone.
Back when Call of Duty 4 dropped, I had a similar problem. Turns out you need to open up more than just one port. If you search Google for all the ports needed for an Open connection type, it might help. Some ones are probably special for my internet provider or router, but I can't remember them now.
I get why you're working on that, but if things aren't broken in the game, don't stress about it. I usually just ignore those warnings because they never do anything to me.
