I recently acquired a RTX 4060 ti 16gb. Before that, I owned an RTX 2060. My other specifications include i5-12600k, 16gb DDR4 at 3200mhz, and a 600 watt PSU. The PSU comes with the included unit for the nzxt h1 v1. After installation and startup, my first action was to install the drivers. Once that was complete, I attempted to play Destiny 2. When I opened the game, my entire PC froze, and I could only keep the power button pressed to shut it down. The wallpaper engine was also running in the background, which I thought might have caused the crash. I discovered that after switching to a new GPU, my settings had reached their maximum. I adjusted them back down, and similarly for Destiny.

I conducted several tests to investigate the problem. The PC froze more quickly when both games were open simultaneously, but it would still crash whether the wallpaper engine was active or not. Before adjusting the settings, my GPU usage dropped from 30% during idle to 10% or less. After adjustments, it still crashed in-game at around 25% usage and a peak temperature of 67 degrees. Another test involved using MSI Afterburner to limit the GPU's power draw, setting it to 70%. The issue continued to occur.

I left the computer idle for an hour before shutting it down. When I turned it back on and launched Destiny as usual, I experienced a complete crash. After about 30 seconds into the game, the visuals turned red, yellow, and black, with significant artifacts appearing, audio distortion, and the PC freezing. This time, the system rebooted itself without any intervention. Later, when I tried to play again, it froze during the loading screen, similar to previous occurrences. This observation might be useful.

I'm having similar issues with a different problem, Installed a new SSD 1 day ago and the freeze +black screen is happening on intensive games.
POSSIBILITY 1 . after changing the GPUs something got shifted and a little loose inside.
Re-seat your GPU carefully.
POSSIBILITY 2. Old Drivers Conflict.
I'm using a Freeware DDU, Display Driver Unnistaller to make sure to complete remove old GPU drivers
before Installing the new ones.
Make sure to
make a computer restore point.
Have your Driver installer software already downloaded.
Turn -off Internet to make sure Windows Update won't install a crappy generic driver when you uninstall yours.
Restart Pc in safe mode.
proceed with GPU driver install,
restart again.
pick the option you think are more likely to try first,
since you already checked overheating and power usage.. I can't think of anything else, unless some option in windows power plan control is forcefully starving your gpu of power
check windows energy controls too.

I haven’t reinstalled my GPU yet, though I tried the second choice. I believed it would help, as my system ran longer before freezing, but it still eventually froze.

I didn't find a solution yet, but I just noticed on the Last Windows updates page for my PC that there was an anti-virus definition update for Windows on May 25, 2024. Maybe removing or adding Destiny 2 to the list of Windows exceptions could help.

It's not only fate—it becomes unstable with any kind of stress on the GPU, even something as basic as a YouTube video. I'm not sure it would bring down my whole computer completely. Thanks for the suggestion though.

The full specifications for this setup, including the make and model of every component installed, are available. Particular attention is given to the power supply unit.

need to determine the precise model or provide a link to the combo bought.
options are a single 16GB stick, a 2x 8GB kit, or mixed sticks.
please include the make & model.
try using only the iGPU to check if these problems persist.

I swapped the GPU today with another model and still faced the same problem.
CPU: Intel i5-12600k
MB: Asrock B660M-ITX/ac
RAM: TEAMGROUP T-Force Vulcan Z DDR4 16GB Kit (2x8GB) 3200MHz
Original GPU: ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 2060 Overclocked 6GB
Previous GPU: ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB
Current GPU: PNY NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti XLR8 Gaming Verto Overclocked Dual Fan 16GB
PSU/Case/Cooler: The power supply came with the NZXT H1. The case cooler and PSU are sold together, specifically model v1. The only details available mention a 650W SFX-L 80 PLUS Gold modular power supply. You can view it here, but there’s limited information or details online.
The PSU is from NZXT, features an SFX-L design, meets 80+ Gold standards, and delivers 650W. That’s all I’ve found so far.
I’m puzzled as to why I’m experiencing issues with this setup, especially since others have significantly stronger cards using the same power supply. Also, keep in mind that all these components are at most two years old.

This is not a bundled package; the NZXT H1 Case includes the PSU, GPU riser, and AIO cooler out of the box, and this applies to all models. The variation lies in the model I own—the NZXT H1 V1. The V2 version features a distinct design and a 750W power supply. Since I’m using the V1, my setup uses a 650W SFX-L 80 PLUS Gold modular power supply.

You can view the PSU here, but there’s limited detail available about it. The unit is manufactured by NZXT, comes in an SFX-L form factor, and supports 80+ Gold certification with a 650W capacity. That’s all I’ve found online or through other sources.

The power supply works fine without any problems from the integrated graphics card.

Your issue seems to stem from a power-related concern, which is why the details were provided. Although the PSU listed appears adequate, it might be faulty and require replacement.
