Do you know anyone with a MEG z390 ACE motherboard?
I acquired an MSI MEG Z390 ACE at a discounted price to upgrade from my previous MSI Z370-A Pro. I’m curious if the additional power phases and VRM cooling will enhance my overclocking performance or if there are unique features the ACE offers compared to the Pro board. Let me know if anyone has experience with the MEG ACE and its advantages.
Hi Blake, the board purchase won’t boost your CPU overclock beyond what’s possible due to heat and voltage limits. You’re on the right track with the current setup. These chips begin heating up significantly above 1.400v. The biggest way to cut CPU temperature is by removing the lid and applying liquid metal beneath the IHS plate instead of the standard TIM unless you’ve already tried that. This will let the extra power phases operate at cooler temperatures, which is beneficial. Plus, the 370 A-Pro offers additional features not available here. Overall, you’re in the right range for an ambient cooling overclock.
