Another user shared a solution for a recurring problem. After reinstalling, the fix worked but was somewhat bothersome. Begin the game normally, monitor Vanguard's CPU usage. If it's elevated, close the application via Task Manager and in-game press "quit" when a connection error appears. Restart the game afterward and it should function properly. Typically, CPU usage drops from around 40% to just 4%.
I've already attempted to reinstall it twice, and I've reported the problem on Riot Games. Still, nothing is resolving the issue.
Hey everyone! I’m facing the same issue when switching from Win11 back to Win10. I’m not sure if it’s due to Windows 10 itself or just my setup, but I think there’s a solution I can try. First, uninstall Riot client, Valorant, and Riot Vanguard from your PC. Then clear all cache and %temp% files. Disable the firewall and real-time protection temporarily while installing the new clients. Save your Riot Client and Valorant on different disks—don’t put them on C (usually Windows Program Files). Avoid using MSI afterburner OSD or Discord overlay during gameplay. Once done, turn your system’s firewall and real-time protection back on. After that, my Vanguard user mod service runs at 2-3%, but it spikes to 18-20% during new rounds in the buy phase, then drops back down. It’s frustrating since I only have an i5 4570, and I hope Riot fixes this in the next update.
I reviewed and saved the newest window patching, set it as admin, but nothing functions properly. My device consumes a lot of power every time I launch Valorant after trying to uninstall it, yet it doesn’t reach maximum CPU usage. It’s crashing my game despite being a powerful machine. I’m an IT professional and haven’t found a reliable fix so far. I believed I resolved the issue last night, but the problem returned this morning when I tried to play again.
Consider this alternative method too. It’s now functioning after I removed the control panel and deleted all VALORANT files from my computer. Check the provided link to uninstall and clear any damaged registry entries. Remember, each removal requires a restart before it fully clears. Registry file locations and additional instructions are available at the given URL.
Hi, I faced the same issue with the CPU. I moved it to a different disk besides C, turned off the firewall, and initially played Valorant smoothly without problems. However, when I tried again later, the Vanguard started using a large portion of my CPU—between 30 to 40%. I’m unsure what other solutions might help.
I faced the same issue again. Reinstalled Valorant and Riot Games but it didn’t fix anything. Updated the graphics card driver and Windows settings, yet the problem persisted. It turned out Discord’s overlay was the cause—just disabling it resolved the issue.
I discovered a method that truly functions. If you're using one version of Windows 11 and experience high resource consumption, open Task Manager, right-click on Vanguard, and select Efficiency Mode. It reduced your usage from over 80% to between 40 and 60, as hoped.
