The processor runs at 4790K, and the motherboard is a Z97 Gaming-7 series from MSI. Are there any programs available to increase your CPU's speed?

I think you're talking about the Asus Overclocking Tuner. I'm not entirely sure, but it seems to be a specific ASUS product only.
Your MSI options include the command center (which is temporary) or the MSI OC Genie integrated into certain MSI motherboard BIOS. You can find more details here: http://www.techadvisor.co.uk/how-to/pc-c...c-3596813/
The MSI OC Genie is a great built-in solution.

You can try Intel Extreme Tuning Utility: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/downloa...Intel-XTU- For overclocking, it's best to use the BIOS. Make sure to take all required precautions for safety. You might also consider MSI Command Center for short-term overclocks - https://uk.msi.com/page/msi-apps. Note that MSI Command Center doesn't retain your settings, so restarting will reset them to defaults.

Is there any comparable software to the Asus AI suite? What was its name? On a PC I used once, I activated a button that permanently increased the speed until I reinstalled the operating system.

Yeah, I was a bit careless before.
I used it some time back, but didn’t remember what it was called.
I’ll follow your advice, since you did answer my questions properly.
