Hi,
I started my first PC last December and haven't paid much attention to hardware details since then.
Recently, while checking CPU temperatures with CPUID HWMonitor during a game update, I noticed the temps fluctuating widely—from about 45°C to 59°C.
After the update, I’m seeing stable readings around 31 to 32°C.
I’m wondering if reaching 59°C during an update is normal and whether my CPU is unusually demanding.
I’m using a stock cooler and have an i5-4590 processor. Any advice would be great.

59C is all good, there could have been many operations during the update, nothing to be concerned about.

Your idle temperature is great, and there might be a lot happening in an in-game update, so I'm not too worried about that. The best approach is to press Alt Tab while out of a game and check your temperatures.

I don't know how much it uses CPU, but it might. Try using a stress tester such as Prime95 and keep an eye on your temperatures while it runs. This will provide a clearer picture of performance under load.

Check out ROG Realbench for a more realistic CPU stress test and benchmark! Prime 95 is too harsh and unnecessary, while Realbench offers better performance without damaging your CPU.
