It's a well-known problem that Horizon Forbidden West overheats significantly in certain parts of the map. Many users report this issue on Steam and Reddit. It’s completely due to the game itself, not related to PC hardware or cooling solutions. I usually keep my temperatures around 60°C, but recently reached 85°C in the Deluge area with CPU spiking. Some players are adjusting their CPU voltages to manage heat, but that doesn’t solve the core problem. My system specs are listed below.

Consider using Curve Optimizer and reducing the voltage would be beneficial. The problem isn't cooling, but the amount of power sent to your processor. Don't forget to specify your motherboard brand and BIOS version.

Asus Crosshair VIII Dark Hero runs BIOS version 3801. Updating the BIOS isn't my goal since it might create complications on a system that's already stable. After restarting the game, CPU temperatures returned to normal right after clearing nearby machines. Later, in a confined space inside a cave, the issue reoccurred. The game seems to have problems.
