I understand many individuals continue to engage with Dota 2, yet there remains uncertainty about the current popularity of League of Legends as an online PC game.

I've been playing every day since this summer. I completely skipped LoL before then. I really wish I had started sooner. I always believed it was just for kids. Boy, I was wrong. One of the most addictive games I've ever played. The variety is incredible.

If you were there before Fortnite eliminated everything or even before the changes that started assigning roles on SR, you wouldn't be that excited Big Grin. Sadly, this diversity is being reduced by RIOT who drives the meta into the game, making unusual content unplayable. Apart from the Garen-Yuumi bot, I think so Big Grin. If variety matters, DOTA offers more options. It's also mentioned by someone who likes DotA but plays LoL without a team in the past... But yes, the game remains pretty popular.

many people enjoy it, unfortunately
it has to end
or another game should take its place for me
i’ve been thinking about giving up this whole thing since s7

Tegos must maintain relevance at any price.
The company earns a staggering sum from the pro scene.
Without any interest in the game, there will be no interest in the pro matches...

Meta? Strange things that can't be played? What exactly are you referring to? What does "meta" mean? What's unusual and unplayable? I played DOTA back in 2017 but didn't really enjoy it, so I removed it. I think it's similar to LoL, so maybe I should reinstall it since I really like LoL. The reason I find LoL amazing is like finding X-Men trading cards as a kid—so many unique abilities from different characters. I really love it.

Meta serves as the widely accepted optimal strategy for success (Best Available Tactic). It covers everything from role distribution, to champion picks, through item crafting, skill progression sequences, and far beyond. The standard configuration includes tank/offtank/bruiser top, AP carry/assassin mid, a single jungler, plus ADC or support bot roles.

If you plan to run two junglers, you're disrupting the balance for others.
Playing as a roaming support isn't the right path.
Attempting an Ap carry top is bold—what a move!
Trying these approaches in ranked play is risky.
One of the most cited cases here is:
They've changed their setup significantly to make certain roles unplayable, citing that someone discovered an effective alternative way to play them. So they modified the system to ensure those roles no longer work as intended.

You can find more insight in the comments beneath a video where creators had to adapt due to the issue's popularity at the time:
Only a single season in competitive play saw players swapping top and bot lanes for an edge. There was one season of top lane farming alongside jungler play early on, and just one season of AP bot instead of ADC. Garen has been tweaked, and it seems the Garen-Yuumi duo bot is becoming outdated.
On one side, I understand they want to ensure pro games attract attention and generate revenue. On the other, they limit choices for casual players.
Conversely, in DotA they follow a more flexible philosophy—'everything can work,' which aligns with my perspective.
And let's not forget—these two titles belong to different genres. The mechanics differ significantly; DotA is tougher, while LoL leans more casual—this is the broadest take I can offer.

Yes. But its community remains filled with troublemakers, children, and unpleasant people. I question whether the report feature actually works.

Whatever comes my way, I just enjoy the game. I haven't even tried a ranked match yet. Spending hundreds of hours against bots has worked well for me. I don't have much time to deal with all that.

It's just because I like LoL and almost never played DOTA. I mostly play games casually.
