Your i7 4930k runs on a solid setup with 4x 4GB DDR3 RAM and a GTX780. Upgrading to a RTX 2070 or 2080 should not create major bottlenecks, especially for 1440p and VR. The CPU is built in 2013, so it’s fairly modern for today’s standards.

It would be more restrictive than a contemporary alternative, yet from a gaming standpoint I don't believe it's essential just yet. The performance difference between fourth generation and today's systems is a significant jump in effort for only a modest improvement. Hold onto the 4930k for now, and if your new configuration doesn't meet expectations, think about upgrading.
