Consensus reached... why waste effort creating something new when solutions already exist? How many times have these products been reused across different systems—motherboards, cases, etc.? I never realized the e-waste these companies produce from such practices. Gamers Nexus helped me see the bigger picture, and now it’s clear these components are essentially useless apart from each other. HP has stopped making this model and adjusted its front IO for newer CPUs like G5/G6, plus they updated the LGA layout for different generations. You can’t rely on any of them moving forward. I’m about to vent, but seeing Alex or Ploof get overly excited about proprietary laptops or similar gear really bothers me. These companies shouldn’t be featured on DIY sites. Thanks for the inspiration tonight!

From a financial angle it’s logical but completely unethical. Usually companies like Dell or HP install products in business environments. When they can’t be repaired by regular users, consumers are forced to purchase warranties, which increases costs for the manufacturer.

I attempted to connect a standard PSU but required an adapter. Later I discovered it also prevents the front I/O from functioning properly, which seemed unusual. Why would HP invest such effort?

Indeed, it seems they might miss out on attracting customers later, especially since the custom market appears to be expanding.

Most IT teams focus more on software than hardware maintenance. They spend time managing malware and security updates, constantly stressing the system while it sits idle due to cyber protection. Custom PCs built by IT groups offer superior performance and reliability. These manufacturers manage their own components under warranty, making them a reliable option. The current situation feels like a dead end—many OEMs don’t support modern devices, leaving users with limited options. I recall assisting someone in locating an adapter, which might have been you. It’s frustrating compared to how Tesla handles its parts, ensuring everything works seamlessly.
