Do AVX instructions work with an i7 9700k?
Hi,
I have an i7 9700K with an asus z390 prime. I left everything at the default settings, only adjusted the core multiplier to 51 and BCLK to 102.7, and now the CPU runs at 5.1ghz on all cores.
What is AVX? The minimum value is 0. Do I need to make any changes? Voltage? LLC... etc? The OC is stable as it is.
AVX consists of extensive processor commands utilized in certain applications such as video encoding and encryption. These instructions demand significant CPU resources and can easily lead to overheating even at standard clock speeds. To mitigate this, an offset is often introduced for AVX operations, causing the processor to reduce its speed when handling these instructions. This adjustment helps prevent overheating but is specific to Intel's implementation. AMD supports AVX as well, though they do not define an equivalent offset. Since their processors typically run at lower frequencies, this offset becomes less relevant.
